Curriculum
The Pre School provides a curriculum for the Foundation stage of education. The curriculum is set out in a document published by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and the Department for Education and Skills and called the Foundation stage.
The six headings are;
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development.
- Communication, Language and Literacy
- Mathematical Development.
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World
- Physical Development
- Creative Development.
For each area the guidance sets out early learning goals. These goals state what is expected that children will know and be able to do by the end of the reception year of their education.
We offer 1 activity each morning that meets 1 of these areas of development. We rotate these areas each week for 6 weeks, so that all children experience all areas of the curriculum.
Additional activities
We also offer the following activities each session;
- Free play inside (includes floor, tables and tray activities and toys)
- A free choice drawing, writing and gluing table.
- A Computer
- Outside play either in the school playground or in the adventure playground.
- Snack time
- Story and Newstime.
We use the school toilets; children are able to ask to go at any time.
The Curriculum activity is on offer with one member of staff during free play. We change our topic monthly.
Two members of staff move around the room with the children during free play, playing with the children and also making observations for the children's profiles
Children have a keyworker who works closely with the child and parent/ carer and completes their child profile. We offer a home visit to the Child before they start Pre School from the Manager or Deputy Manager.Ide Childcare Trust
